Oxley Wild Rivers National Park Oxley Wild Rivers National park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage area and is the 7th largest National Park in NSW and the 6th largest declared wilderness area. 110,000 hectares of dramatic gorges, spectacular waterfalls , wild and scenic rivers make this area unique. 15,000 Hectares of dry rainforests make it the largest area of its type in NSW and is home to many rare and interesting plant and animal species. The Park protects a great deal of the extensive gorge system east of Armidale in Northern NSW and incorporates the Apsley-Macleay gorge system including Gara gorge, Wollomombi Gorge and a host of other spectacular locations. There are a number of walking tracks, look out platforms and picnic areas to enjoy the scenic beauty of this untamed wilderness. Access to many of these areas is from the scenic Waterfall Way east of Armidale where the new England Plateau suddenly drops hundreds of metres to reveal a landscape of breathtaking beauty.
